Lorentes was born in 2014, thanks to Davide Lorente, a Spanish immigrant whose roots were planted in the heart of Madrid. Growing up in his grandfather Don Manuel’s bustling tapas bar, Antonio learned early that food wasn’t just about taste—it was about connection, tradition, and love. Don Manuel’s bar, where laughter and stories flowed alongside tapas, left a lasting mark on Davide’s heart.
After moving to the UK, Davide spent years perfecting his craft and saving for his dream: opening a tapas restaurant that captured the warmth and flavours of Madrid. In 2014, he made that dream a reality in Derby, with a small, intimate bar that quickly became beloved by locals. The menu, inspired by his grandfather’s recipes, was filled with the rich, authentic flavours of Spain—croquettes, meatballs in tomato sauce, and sizzling prawns, all served with the same care and passion Davide learned as a child.
The restaurant’s success was immediate. By 2017, Davide opened a second location in Nottingham, followed by a third in Derby in 2020. Despite the expansion, Davide’s vision remains unchanged: to offer a space where food brings people together, where every dish is made with love and respect for his heritage.
Today, Lorentes continues to thrive, with Davide and his family at the helm, keeping the spirit of Don Manuel alive in every meal. Every plate tells a story, and every guest is treated like family—just as it was back in Madrid.
