Frequently Asked Questions

What You Need To Know

It does not matter how much or little storm damage is observed as long as there is storm damage. The roofing structure has multiple components that are not readily visible, therefore, we do not only focus on the damages to the shingles or tiles as the underlayment and decking may have been affected.
Yes, if you have a service agreement with the client, you will be listed as a payee on the settlement check.
It depends on the insurance company and facts of case, however, if it is a case in which the insurance company acknowledged coverage, approximately 2–3 months.
Yes, we update clients and their roofers on the status of their claim on a monthly basis.
If the roofing structure requires a replacement, we will not stop until we have obtained enough for the roofing contractor to complete the replacement.
We do not accept cases where there is no evidence of storm damage. An insurance policy does not provide for a replacement due to wear and tear.
Yes, if your company does not use the Xactimate platform, we have contractors we use to draft Xactimate estimates on behalf of homeowners.
Our attorneys are Florida barred attorneys, therefore, we accept referrals from all parts of Florida.
Yes, we get a substantial percentage of our cases from Google. Once we settle our client's cases, it is common for them to ask for a recommendation of a good roofer. We proudly refer roofers we work with.
Our firm obtains referrals from roofing companies of all sizes from 1–5 employee companies to some of the largest roofing companies throughout the state of Florida.
We only ask that you provide a detailed photo report of the storm damage observed so that our office can evaluate.
While public adjusters can be helpful to homeowners in need of a proper investigation into whether they have storm damage, our law firm has a dedicated team of contractors that are able to draft estimates and conduct free inspections for homeowners and roofers alike. Further, with the advocacy of an attorney from the beginning of the claim, you send a clear message to the insurance company that if they attempt to wrongfully deny or underpay the claim, they will be held legally accountable.
Karkatselos Law operates on a contingency fee basis. That means we only obtain payment once we are able to favorably settle our client's cases.
No, on the contrary our law firm takes great pride in navigating the pre-suit process in an effort to obtain a settlement without the need for a lawsuit. In the unlikely event that we are not able to obtain a settlement at the pre-suit phase, we may proceed into litigation to hold the insurance company accountable for their actions. Our founding partner is a former Miami Prosecutor and while it is his goal not to take legal action against the insurance company, if he is forced to, he will prosecute the insurance company as he once did criminals in Miami.
Yes, have the homeowner consult an attorney. The insurance company is focused on paying out as little as possible and will use all the tools at their disposal to meet their objective. Among those tools are recorded statements, examinations under oath, sworn proof of losses, and engineering inspections, to name a few. Do not allow your client to navigate this process without the proper counsel. At Karkatselos Law our attorneys have represented the insurance companies and know how to navigate through the traps insurance companies set to deny or underpay claims.
