Who We Are

VITA is a partnership of Life Transforming Ministries (LTM) and the IRS. Since 2004, we’ve been serving individuals and families across Chester County and beyond by offering free, accurate tax preparation and connecting people to financial resources that strengthen our community.

We partner with the United Way Financial Stability Center and PA CareerLink to ensure that all customers are offered the opportunity to receive additional financial and workforce development services for free.

Our team of IRS-certified volunteers dedicates thousands of hours each year to ensure hardworking households receive all the credits and deductions they deserve—especially the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

Why All Of This Matters

Hardworking families should never face the high cost of professional tax preparation—or the risk of being taken advantage of—just to access the credits they’ve earned. Yet in Chester County, we are only reaching a fraction of eligible EITC households. Thousands of families still pay unnecessary fees to claim their benefit. Through VITA, we’re working to change that by providing free, trusted tax preparation for those who need it most.

Mission

Life Transforming Ministries VITA program’s mission is to train and mobilize volunteers to provide free and accurate tax preparation services for hardworking households who may qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit. We also serve anyone who needs tax assistance that is within our scope of service, as determined by the certification levels of our volunteers. In addition, we connect people to other financial stability resources.
