What exactly is a Homestay?

A homestay is an accommodation option whereby you live with a local family. Students have their own rooms and share common areas. Daily breakfast and dinner is also included. This is an excellent option if you really want to accelerate your Spanish and cultural exposure. Students should be prepared to live in simpler and more rustic conditions than they may be used to but if you are okay with that you'll make some new Tico friends and have a truly unique experience.

Who are the families that students stay with?

Our families have been curated over a 15 year period. Families are interviewed and visited several times before participating in the program and they are used to hosting students from around the world. These families are a huge part of our program and we take great care in securing welcoming and genuine families.

How much does it cost and how to I sign up?

The homestay program is $250.00 per week and includes daily breakfast and dinner. During the check out process you'll be able to select homestay or student residence/private room.

Where are the homestays located?

Families are located between 1-5 kilometers from campus in Nosara, Esperanza and Garza. Students typically walk, take the bus, tuk tuk taxis, e-bikes or quad/car rentals.

When can I check in?

The homestays are avilalble Sunday - Sunday only so you may check in on any Sunday. Check out will be the Sunday following your last day of classes.
