Greetings! Today, I'm beyond excited to introduce you to someone truly extraordinary.
Heather Gibson is the compassionate soul behind Big Hearted Breeders. Settle in as we embark on a journey through Heather's passion, dedication, and the wonderful world of matching hearts with paws.
Picture this: a couple deeply committed to fostering and adopting children from the foster care system. Allow me to introduce Heather and her husband, Jacob. With over a decade of fostering experience and four adoptions under their belt, their home was a haven of love. Yet, there was an unspoken desire—a longing to connect even further, this time with furry companions.
Their journey into the realm of breeding began with a quest for a specific cat breed that proved elusive in their area. After tireless searching, they welcomed three adorable kittens into their home and hearts. They also began to breed and share the gift of the Tonkinese kittens with others.
However, fate had different plans for Heather. When her daughter left for college, she thought one of her cats would be a great emotional support animal for her during this transition. However, Heather's daughter revealed an unexpected preference: she was not a cat person—she was a dog person. And so, the journey into the world of dog breeding began.
Big Hearted Breeders began to include dogs. Heather embarked on a new chapter in her life's journey armed with a mission. She wanted to help families find the perfect emotional support animals, therapy, and service dogs.
However, Heather's journey was far from straightforward. She had to retire her original line of Balinese cats because of genetic temperament issues. She also had to navigating unexpected health challenges in their Havanese pups. Heather has faced her fair share of trials and tribulations.
Yet, through it all, Heather has remained steadfast in her commitment. Thousands of dollars spent on surgeries, vet bills, and heartache couldn't dim her resolve. And in the face of criticism and loneliness, she found solace in building a community of like-minded breeders. This community dedicates itself to raising standards and supporting one another through the highs and lows of breeding.
Why does Heather have such passion and drive for breeding and her animals? Simple: a deep-seated desire to breed the healthiest, most outgoing cats and dogs imaginable. Her goal is to make a positive impact on the lives of those struggling with mental health issues. She wants to provide them with loving, supportive companions.
Heather is a perpetual learner. She is constantly seeking out the latest techniques, practices, and procedures. She wants to ensure her furry charges receive the best care possible. She uses health testing to avoid health problems in her breeding program.
She doesn't measure success in dollars or accolades. She measures it in the joy of changing a person's life for the better, one paw at a time.
And speaking of accolades, Heather's dedication hasn't gone unnoticed. She recently appeared as a rising star in VoyagerUtah Magazine. They are shining a spotlight on her remarkable contributions to the field of breeding. She currently breeds Tonkinese cats, Balinese cats, Havanese dogs, and Mini Golden Retriever dogs.
Heather and her team are doing some incredible work. If you're eager to learn more about it, be sure to check out their website and social media channels.
