All class times can be found here or on the Haslemere Jiu Jitsu website, the class can even be booked directly from there once you have the MAAT app installed.

Ages 4–9

Thursday: 4:30pm to 5:30pm (Gi session)

Sunday: 11:00am to 12:00pm (Gi session)

Ages 10–14

Tuesday: 4:30pm to 5:30pm (Gi session)

Wednesday: 4:30pm to 5:30pm (NoGi session)

1. How will my child be graded, and how often?

Children are graded based on attendance, engagement, skill progression, and attitude. We do not rush grading. Grading events happen a few times per year and are communicated via WhatsApp.

2. How often should I wash the Gi?

After every single use.

3. How should I wash and dry the Gi?

-Wash at 30–40°C

-Avoid fabric softener

-Air-dry only

-Do not tumble dry

4. What’s the difference between Gi and NoGi?

Gi uses a traditional uniform with grips.
NoGi uses rash guards and shorts/leggings and focuses on movement without clothing grips.

5. What should I do if my child gets a skin disease?

Please keep them off the mats until fully cleared by a doctor. Send Matt a message if you’re unsure.

6. What happens if my child gets injured?

Most injuries are minor. We assess immediately and update parents. Serious concerns follow our safety protocol.

7. Can parents stay and watch?or Question

Yes, quietly. Please avoid coaching from the sidelines.

8. What happens if we can’t attend a session?

Simply cancel on the MAAT app. No penalties apply.

9. What should I do if my child is ill?

Please keep them home until fully recovered.

10. My child just has a small cold — can they train?

If they wouldn’t attend school, they shouldn’t attend training.

11. Do I need to tell the coaches if my child is unwell?

Yes — a quick message is perfect.

12. If my child misses a week, will they fall behind?

Not at all. We’ll help them catch up.

13. What happens after the initial 12 weeks?

Towards the end of the programme, we’ll check in and discuss next steps. There’s no pressure or obligation. Most families continue, but the choice is always yours.
