Our care model

Direct, relationship-based addiction care built around your recovery.

Criterion Medical uses a Direct Patient Care (DPC) membership model. Instead of billing insurance, you pay a transparent monthly fee for highly accessible, personalized care. This allows us to spend more time with you, coordinate your treatment thoughtfully, and protect your privacy.

We combine medication-assisted treatment, counseling coordination, and practical support to help you move toward a stable, meaningful life in recovery.

Membership includes:

  • Comprehensive intake and stabilization plan
  • Regular follow-up visits (virtual and/or in-person)
  • Secure messaging and care coordination
  • Medication management and monitoring

You can use your insurance separately for lab work, therapy, or other services outside of Criterion Medical.

Questions, answered

Common questions about Criterion Medical and our care.

Do you take insurance?

No. Criterion Medical operates as a Direct Patient Care practice. We charge a transparent membership fee and do not bill insurance. Some patients use HSA/FSA funds or out-of-network benefits for related services such as lab work or therapy obtained outside the practice.

When will you open?

Opening Spring 2026. Join our waiting list for the most up to date information.

Do I have to be ready to quit completely?

No. Many patients start care unsure of their exact goals. We’ll talk openly about what feels realistic for you right now—reducing, pausing, or stopping—and adjust over time as things change.

Do you offer virtual visits?

Yes. We offer secure virtual visits for patients located within our licensed states, along with in-person options when appropriate. We’ll help you choose the right mix based on your needs and safety.

How quickly can I be seen?

Most new patients are scheduled for an initial consult within 1–2 weeks, and often sooner. If you’re unsure whether you need urgent in-person care, we can help you decide on the safest option.

Is my visit confidential?

Yes. Criterion Medical operates under 42 CFR Part 2 regulation which protects the confidentiality of substance use disorder patient.
