The first round of the ORA Winter Downhill Series 2023 was an epic weekend of racing at Boomers Bike Park on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. With perfect hero dirt conditions, the event drew in a record turnout of 206 riders, making it the biggest downhill racing event in south east Queensland.
Bryce Sterling was crowned the champion of the Elite Men category, setting a blistering time of 1:57.49 that left the competition in the dust. The event was supported by Kenny Racing Australia, Funn MTB, and CST Tyres, who provided prizes for every category.
Off the Brakes and Boomers Bike Park didn't disappoint, delivering cash prizes of $250, $150, and $100 for the top three positions in the Elite and Under 19's categories. NSD Dynamics also chipped in with some awesome suspension service vouchers for the Under 13's.
Just Ride Nerang and We the Riders supported the younger categories with vouchers at their store and online store, respectively, for the Under 15's and Under 17's. It was fantastic to see the ladies getting involved and taking home some sensational prizes.
If you missed out on the action, don't worry! Round 2 is just a few weeks away, so get ready to hit the trails and show us what you've got.
Events like these do not run with out the help of our volunteers, so Thank You to all the car park attendants, marshals, shuttle drivers that showed up and helped out over the weekend, you legends rock!
