North Highlands is a place where history is still visible in the neighborhood itself and in the stories residents share. From long-time neighbors who have lived here for decades to new families putting down roots, North Highlands continues to grow while holding onto what makes it distinctive.
The neighborhood was among the earliest subdivisions developed in Fort Wayne, and part of the area was even once home to the city's first municipal golf course.

Certain places and features are part of everyday life in North Highlands and part of how residents recognize the neighborhood:

Hamilton Park, including the walking track, playground, and natural space
Brick pillars at key intersections, with plaques that reflect neighborhood pride
The neighborhood's ongoing focus on care, curb appeal, and preservation
Former North Highlands Golf Course clubhouse
