About NNMHA

More than 65 years ago a group of horse lovers got together to form an association now known as Northern New Mexico Horsemen's Association. In the 1980's and 1990's, a major focus of event planning was horse showing: performance, showmanship, Western and English classes.

Over the years, our membership changed and the major emphasis on showing gave way to more attention for horse husbandry, general horse training, trail riding, and caring for donkeys or mules as well as horses. Association members have put on shows, led trail rides, given out educational scholarships, held clinics and play days.

Today...

In 2020, NNMHA re-formed as a full-fledged 501(c)(3) public charity with the mission to encourage and educate our members and the broader New Mexico community with regard to equine wellness and equestrian activities. We were able to sell our property in Santa Fe (next to the Santa Fe Rodeo Grounds) which has allowed us to re-invest in a wider range of programs, activities and support.
