The cross fit and boot camps looked a bit too high impact and high probability for injury.
SGI popped up on my Facebook feed shortly after my 50th birthday, and looked like a doable option.
The trainer let workouts are fun and self regulable. The class members are all pleasant and welcoming. I lost 15 pounds over the first six week challenge period with the workouts alone. Another 25 over the next year with reasonable and sensible diet adjustments.
My joint and muscle pain has all but vanished and my strength, flexibility and overall fitness have greatly improved.
SGI is fantastic and has probably added a decade of healthy living to my life… So far!
1000 percent recommended!
I am 87 years old I’ve been going to SGI for about 3 years. Thank you to my personal trainer Travis for pushing me enough to build my strength and stability. If I hadn’t discover this gym. I don’t think I would be able to enjoy my life at this age. The staffs and other trainers are so friendly and welcoming. It’s a great environment and my caregivers enjoy their puzzles are left out for guest while waiting. Thank you SGI for all you do for our community and especially myself.
Still Got It Fitness is a great place to go! Some gyms can make you feel intimidated but not this place. I also love to support small businesses. All the people that work here are great and the members are very friendly.
This is the only gym and exercise program that I have ever stuck with. It has been three months now and I’m moving so well and can handle tasks effortlessly throughout my day. The trainers adjust to wherever the gym member is in their current physical state. No pushing, no pressure, all good, inclusive classes.
I’m 67 years old.
Still Got It Fitness – just do it!!! In February of 2018 I saw a Facebook ad for a six-week Group Exercise Challenge called Boomer Fit – for us BABY BOOMERS.
Hmmm, sounded interesting, and maybe it could keep me interested and motivated, unlike all those other gyms I had joined over the years – boring – I needed something new.
So I took that Challenge and I loved it! I met a great group of fun people – fellow Boomers like me plus awesome owners and staff!
We work hard. We run. We sweat. We laugh. We have fun! We get stronger, more fit, healthier, and happier!
Fitness can be fun. I Challenge You!
We have been working with Bruno for over 20 years, and our balance and mobility has dramatically improved. Working with Bruno has made life more comfortable. Our retirement has been wonderful, and we never thought we could feel this good!
Nikole has told me that she was fortunate to have been able to have received advanced training in personal training. That is only a starting point. Nikole is able to apply the knowledge that she acquired. She is smart and a good communicator. She is a good teacher and is able to demonstrate how to do numerous exercises.
Nikole zeroed in on ways to help me. She has helped me in so many ways. I truly appreciate her. She makes every workout challenging and beneficial. She is very professional and makes sure I use proper form with every exercise. Nikole knows how to get me to progress by finding alternate exercises whenever I am unable to properly perform the exercise she had in mind.
Nikole is prepared for every training session. She pushes me to do my best.
I feel blessed to be able to work with Nikole. Thanks to you and your staff for creating such a great environment at SGI.
I have worked with Travis for a little over three years. I began training with him because I was recovering from neck surgery and wanted to regain my strength and fitness after no activity for six months. Taking into consideration my injury and my fear of re-injury, he began my workout routine slowly and had helped me to build up my strength and fitness level gradually. I can’t believe how great I look and feel!
In late 2017, my wife and I were looking for a gym as we knew we needed to get back into better shape and condition. Trying to find the right gym was the challenge. Diana tried a cross-training gym for a few workouts. It did not take long for her to realize those are not for 50+ year old’s! Now, Diana is a runner, usually 5 days a week on the treadmill, so it’s not like she didn’t have pretty decent endurance. Me on the other hand, I hate running! N school and the military, I was a decent enough sprinter… up to a quarter mile all out. But I’m just not built for distance running.
I wasn’t getting any better just thinking about it, so something had to happen. The metabolism was well into the normal slowdown that occurs with age. However, my love of good food and spirit had not changed. One day in January 2018, someone, someone told Diana about a new gym in Lomita that catered to the 50 plus crowd which we both easily qualified for. We decided to give it a try; what did we have to lose other than some lb’s. We made an appointment and went in and met Bruno and Travis at Still Got It. We signed up for a free/trial two-week Boomer Fit class.
Now, more than a year and a half later, I have lost about 35 pounds and several inches off my waistline. I attribute it to better eating habits and fairly intense 1-hour workouts three evenings a week coached by Bruno, Travis, and Leilani. I can say that my muscle tone, while maybe not that of a twenty something year old, is better now than it was 15 to 20 years ago. Also, not to mention, improved my balance and flexibility which is essential at work and play. I met my initial goal in 6 moths to get down to the 260 lb maximum weight to zipline Hawaii during vacation. Over the last 12 months I’ve dropped another 20 lb. The workout themselves are designed so that there is very little chance for an injury, and everyone can go at a pace suitable for their condition and goals. There is no doubt at the end of that hour workout that you have worked your butt off. My wife and I rarely miss a workout and not just for our physical health but for the fun of working out with a great group of people. We feel so good afterwards knowing we’ve done something really good for ourselves.
I would like to lose another 15-20 pounds, but that will not be easy. I can do a little more with the diet to help get there and there is always room to up the intensity of the workout. One thing is for sure, I will be staying at Still Got It Fitness for a long time.
Just began with SGI and am starting to get some results, my A1C and glucose were both down (my doctor said GREAT), and the strength in both arms has increased. I will never be 18 again, but there is the possibility of my being a feisty 76-year-old.
SGI is a place to feel safe and welcomed. You can modify the classes to fit your level of fitness. The instructors are knowledgeable and fun and you develop a camaraderie with the other students. My husband and I are in pretty good shape, so we wanted to be challenged in an environment that accepted the natural limitations of the body as we age. During classes, we work on flexibility, strength and cardio fitness. In addition, we receive nutritional ideas and regular encouragement.
I have been seeing my trainer for over twelve years for my personal training and fitness needs, and I can’t say enough good things about his effect on the quality of my life. I first came to my trainer after knee surgery. I wanted a more organized program to make sure I stuck with it. My trainer helped me get back my knee function. He was supportive and inspirational rather than a taskmaster and I appreciated that. I rode horses and wore high heels again. He got me back to normal. But he did more than that. He showed me how important weight training could be for my overall health and fitness. My trainer helps me work on my strength, balance, and mobility in a positive way that makes me want to keep doing it. I’m retired now, but I don’t want to be less active. What good is a financial plan that allows you to be independent in retirement without the physical stamina to enjoy yourself? My trainer designs my program especially for me. At my age, something is always in rehab! And he cares about my progress. I couldn’t ask for more.
