SUPPORT GROUP
At times we might feel our friends or family might not be able to understand the depth of what we are feeling or going through, support groups gives you a space to connect with others who have gone through a similar experience thereby providing comfort, empowerment and support through shared stories. Some times it also helps to know, you are not alone in this, and might give you a different perspective on how to cope or use the available resources.
Some types of support groups are: Mental health-related, Bereavement, Addiction Recovery, Caregiver, Trauma, LGBTQ+, Parenting, Youth and Teen, etc.
Why should I join a Support Group?
Emotional Support:
Support groups provide a safe space
to members to express their feelings or thoughts without judgment, which reduces feelings of loneliness.
Coping Skills:
Sometimes, you may need to learn new ways to cope. Support groups, help you learn coping skills from people who’ve found success using them first-hand.
Shared Experiences:
Support groups help connecting
members with others who understand your struggles, offering encouragement, and reducing distress and emotional burden.
Resource Sharing:
Sharing information about health, economic, and social resources, helping each other navigate their challenges more effectively and practically.
Practical Advice:
It offers practical feedback and coping strategies from those with similar experiences, helping members stay motivated and manage conditions.
This was a free 12-week art-based (July, 2024-October, 2024) support group dedicated to
self-discovery and exploration.
Each week, we focused on different topics related to the self. Through art, we provide a medium for expression, reflection, and connection.
Stay tuned for updates..
No, this is a self help group, even if it's therapist led.
Anyone interested in self-exploration through art can join. No prior experience in art is needed, only interest in knowing yourself. While the primary mode will be visual arts, occasionally we would use other art forms such as drama, storytelling, play, etc.
The meeting will be held on Google Meet. The link will be shared 2-3 days prior via your registered email and WhatsApp.
The group meets every Wednesday from 17th July to 2nd October 2024, from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
If there are no spaces available for the session you are interested in, we would inform you that you are waitlisted. If there is any cancellation you will be updated over mail/ phone. To check status you can reach out to us on mail/ whatsapp.
Please mail [email protected] to cancel. We recommend doing so at least 48 hours prior, so the seat does not go into waste. There is no cancellation fee.
You are welcome to come and go as you feel comfortable. Though it is recommended you attend the full session. To get the most out of the support group, it is recommended you attend all 12 sessions, however it is not mandatory. The sessions are independent of each other, hence you can attend as you wish.
You are welcome to have your camera and/or microphone on or off as you prefer, and to change this throughout the meeting as you feel comfortable. You can also join in the discussion via the chat function. Again, we recommend that you keep your camera on for maximum benefit.
Even though this is not a therapy session, sometimes we might get triggered or feel emotional. In such a situation, please reach out to the facilitator/ co-facilitator during or after the session. We will discuss how to take it further. Sometimes, this also might be a sign that we need therapy.
