About Me

Hi, I'm Efaf Ghayem

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

There are a few reasons I love being a therapist. I find it to be a singular honor and privilege to play a part in the stories of my clients. I cannot think of a more rewarding career, one that is designed solely to decrease suffering and improve quality of life.

I celebrate those moments where I see hope in the eyes of a client, a recognition of her greatness, or a long-abandoned hearty laugh. There’s nothing I’d rather do with my life.

My background experience

  • Graduated from UMass Global University with a MA in Psychology focusing on Marital and Family Therapy

  • Previously worked with adolescents, teens, adults, and elderly clients in different settings such as schools and private practice.

  • Currently working towards obtaining my DMFT (Doctorate of Marriage and Family Therapy) at Loma Linda University

Who/what do I specialize in working with?

I feel that I can be most effective working with folks who struggle with emotion dysregulation, mood disorders, relationship issues, and grief.

I am passionate about helping my clients develop a deeper understanding and awareness of their thought patterns and behaviors. Through this sense of awareness comes acceptance and change, allowing my clients to live more purposeful and rewarding lives. I view therapy as a collaborative process where the patient is the expert in their own life. My mission is to support you in your journey of growth.

I am fluent in Farsi and have a lived experience of emigrating from Iran to the USA.

What do I do when I’m not doing therapy?

I love to be outdoors, finding new and challenging hikes is so fun for me!
