About Me

Hi, I'm Rachel England

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

I became a therapist due to my own journey in mental health and body-mind healing. Being a client allowed me to make meaning and even find strength in my suffering. As part of my self-discovery, I realized that supporting others to move through their struggles is my passion and purpose.

Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I was a massage therapist for 4 years which guided my way to eventually becoming a somatic therapist.

My background experience

  • Participated in postgraduate trainings in Somatic Experiencing, ACT, DBT, and Healing Shame

  • Completed EMDRIA-approved basic training in EMDR (eye movement desensitization & reprocessing)

  • Graduated from California Institute of Integral Studies with an MA in Counseling Psychology and an emphasis in Somatic Psychology

  • Participated in TLC’s professional training in the treatment of body-focused repetitive behaviors.

  • Experience working with elementary school students in the public school system and with young and older adults in a non-profit setting.

Who/what do I specialize in working with?

As an integrative somatic therapist, I value the innate wisdom held in the body. In sessions, I support you in widening your capacity to mindfully be with all parts of yourself in the present moment. And, since I understand that tuning into the body takes time and trust, I incorporate other approaches to meet you where you are at. This can look like skill-building, parts work, boundary explorations, incorporating creativity, and more.

I most enjoy working with trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, codependency, body image concerns, chronic shame, and perfectionism. I also specialize in helping those struggling with body-focused repetitive behaviors such as hair-pulling and skin-picking.

Everyone is unique, and as such each session is tailored to your own unique needs and goals.

What do I do when I’m not doing therapy?

I love going on hiking trips in Northern California where I reside.
